Whether you're an active player at OWRFC or one of our cherished old boys who has hung up your boots, we would love for you to get involved in the off-the-pitch activities that keep our club thriving. Recruiting & Social Media Committee Responsibilities:

The Social Media and Recruiting Committee plays a vital role in promoting the club, engaging the community, and attracting new players and supporters. Here are the key responsibilities:

  1. This meeting is the first Tuesday of the month on Zoom from 7pm to 8pm. (11/5/24, 12/3/24, 1/7/25, 2/4/25, 3/4/25, 4/7/25)

  2. Content Creation and Management: Develop engaging content for the club’s social media platforms, including match updates, player highlights, upcoming events, and behind-the-scenes moments. Consistent posting and visual appeal are essential to building a strong online presence.

  3. Recruitment Campaigns: Design and execute recruitment campaigns aimed at bringing in new players across all age groups and skill levels. This includes creating advertisements, reaching out to local schools and communities, and managing online recruitment initiatives.

  4. Community Engagement: Actively engage with followers on social media by responding to comments, messages, and interactions. Build relationships with supporters, alumni, and potential recruits by promoting a welcoming and inclusive club culture.

  5. Event Promotion: Collaborate with other committees to promote club events, fundraisers, and matches. Create and schedule posts that maximize event turnout and generate excitement within the community.

  6. Player and Fan Outreach: Identify and implement strategies to reach prospective players and fans, such as targeted ads, partnerships with local businesses, and attending community events to represent the club.

  7. Brand Building and Awareness: Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all platforms to strengthen the club's identity and reputation within the rugby community and beyond.

Finance Committee Responsibilities:

The Rugby Finance Committee is essential in maintaining the financial health of our club and supporting its ongoing growth. This committee handles budgeting, fundraising, and financial planning to ensure the club operates sustainably and can fund future initiatives. Key responsibilities include:

  1. This meeting is the Second Monday of the month on Zoom from 8pm to 9pm. (11/11/24, 12/9/24, 1/13/25, 2/10/25, 3/10/25, 4/14/24, 5/12/25)

  2. Budgeting and Financial Planning: Develop and monitor the club’s annual budget, ensuring that all departments have the resources they need to operate effectively. Regularly review financial performance against the budget and adjust as necessary to meet financial goals.

  3. Fundraising and Sponsorships: Identify, plan, and manage fundraising opportunities to generate revenue for the club. This includes reaching out to potential sponsors, managing sponsorship packages, and coordinating fundraising events to bring in additional funds.

  4. Financial Reporting: Prepare regular financial reports for the club’s leadership and board to provide insight into the club’s financial status. Maintain transparency and keep members informed about how funds are being utilized.

  5. Expense Management: Oversee club expenses like paying for Coaches, Practice Fields, Referees, Jerseys, Athletic Trainers, Balls, Tackle Bags and ensuring that all spending aligns with the club’s financial goals and guidelines. This includes monitoring match-day expenses, training costs, and operational spending to maximize efficiency to help fund play off travel expenses.

  6. Grant Applications: Identify and apply for grants and external funding opportunities to supplement club revenue. Research potential grants, prepare applications, and manage funds received to support specific projects or initiatives.

This committee is ideal for members who have experience in finance, budgeting, fundraising, or organizational management. By managing the club’s finances responsibly, the Finance Committee ensures that OWRFC can continue to thrive both on and off the pitch.

Women’s Team Committee Responsibilities:

The Women’s Rugby Committee is dedicated to supporting and advancing women’s rugby within our club, ensuring that female players have access to quality resources, opportunities, and a supportive community. This committee works on player recruitment, program development, and advocacy for women’s rugby. Key responsibilities include:

  2. Program Development and Management: Organize and oversee training sessions, matches, and events specifically for women’s rugby teams. Ensure that programs meet the needs of players at all skill levels, from beginners to experienced athletes.

  3. Player Recruitment and Retention: Design and implement recruitment strategies to attract new female players to the club. Partner with local universities, and community organizations to increase awareness and bring new members into the women’s rugby program.

  4. Support for Coaches and Mentors: Recruit, support, and develop coaches dedicated to women’s rugby. Provide resources and training to ensure they are equipped to coach, mentor, and inspire female players.

  5. Advocacy and Representation: Advocate for women’s rugby within the club and the broader community. Ensure that female players receive equal resources, recognition, and opportunities, and promote women’s rugby as an integral part of the club’s culture.

  6. Community Engagement and Outreach: Strengthen the presence of women’s rugby by participating in local events, hosting open days, and creating partnerships with community organizations to encourage more women to get involved in rugby.

  7. Event Planning and Promotion: Plan and promote women-specific events, tournaments, and social gatherings to build camaraderie and support among female players. Collaborate with the Social Media and Recruiting Committee to increase visibility and engagement for women’s rugby.

  8. Skill Development and Progression Pathways: Develop programs and resources that support skill development for female players and create pathways for those who wish to progress to higher levels of play, including competitive leagues or coaching roles.

  9. Fundraising and Sponsorship: Work with the Finance Committee to secure sponsorships, grants, and fundraising opportunities that directly support the women’s rugby program. Ensure resources are allocated effectively to meet the needs of the women’s teams.

  10. Promoting a Positive and Inclusive Environment: Foster a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for female players at all levels. Promote inclusivity and respect, ensuring that women feel valued, safe, and encouraged within the club.

The Executive Board provides strategic leadership and governance for our rugby club, overseeing its overall direction, operational effectiveness, and long-term growth. The board is responsible for ensuring the club's mission, values, and objectives are upheld, and it supports all committees in achieving their goals. Key responsibilities include:

  1. This meeting is the Third Monday of the month at Sherwood Marketing located at 60 West Wieuca, Atlanta, Ga, 30342 or Zoom from 7pm to 8pm. (11/18/24, 12/16/24, 1/20/25, 2/17/25, 3/17/25, 4/21/25, 5/19/25)

  2. Strategic Planning and Vision: Develop and communicate the club’s long-term vision and goal to win a USA Division 2 national championship. Set strategic priorities and initiatives to guide the club’s growth, sustainability, and impact within the community.

  3. Financial Oversight: Work closely with the Finance Committee to oversee the club’s financial health. Approve budgets, review financial reports, and ensure responsible management of resources to safeguard the club’s sustainability.

  4. Leadership and Committee Support: Provide guidance and support to club committees, helping them align their activities with the club’s strategic objectives. Facilitate collaboration across committees to optimize club operations and activities.

  5. Player and Old Boy Relations: Act as a liaison between the club, its members, sponsors, community partners, and other stakeholders. Foster strong relationships to enhance the club’s reputation, secure funding, and increase member engagement.

  6. Fundraising and Sponsorship: Lead high-level fundraising efforts and establish partnerships with sponsors to ensure a steady flow of financial support. Engage with potential donors and sponsors and secure long-term sponsorship agreements to benefit the club.

  7. Club Culture and Values: Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive culture within the club. Uphold the club’s values in all decisions and lead by example to foster a respectful and cohesive environment.

  8. Performance Monitoring and Evaluation: Set measurable goals for the club’s performance and regularly evaluate progress toward these goals. Use data and feedback to assess program effectiveness and make adjustments as needed to improve outcomes.

The Youth Rugby Committee is dedicated to developing and supporting young players, ensuring they have a safe, enjoyable, and enriching rugby experience. This committee oversees youth programs, player development, and outreach efforts to engage young players and their families. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Program Development and Management: Plan and coordinate training camps, matches, and tournaments for various youth age groups. Ensure that programs are designed to develop players’ skills, foster teamwork, and promote a positive rugby experience.

  2. Player Recruitment and Retention: Actively recruit new young players through outreach in local schools, community events, and social media. Work to retain current players by maintaining a supportive and engaging environment where they can grow and develop.

  3. Coaching and Mentorship Support: Recruit and support qualified coaches who are passionate about youth development. Provide ongoing training and mentorship opportunities for coaches to enhance their skills in working with young players.

  4. Safety and Compliance: Ensure all youth activities comply with safety regulations, child protection policies, and best practices in youth sports. This includes conducting background checks, ensuring proper supervision, and maintaining a safe playing environment.
