Old White Cruises in Macon
by: Jonny Rea
Atlanta Old White’s D3 side finished a four-week series of games on the road in Macon on Saturday, bringing home a victory from the combined team of the Columbus/Fort Benning Cruise-a-Matics and Macon Love RFC. The match started slow, a contrast to the early fireworks Old White has seemed accustomed to so far this season. It wasn’t until the 10th minute that the scoring began, when Columbus/Macon was able to punch through Atlanta’s defense with a try scored by its forward pack. However, the conversion would be the last points the home team would score until full time, after giving up a pair of tries in each half and a second half penalty to the visitors. The final score was Columbus/Macon 14-29 Atlanta Old White.
Tries were scored by David Rogers (debut), Kimani Archer (2, debut), and Carson McCraw. Zach Miller was 2-for-3 on conversions and slotted his lone penalty, while Carson McCraw converted his own try. The roster was as follows:
Justin “Telly” Chappell
Mitch Shea
Christian Suggs
Kenny Green
Daryl “Tex” Leeson
David Rogers (d)
Jose Barrera
Stephen Tuitavake
Jarrett Gartin (c)
Zach Miller (vc)
Derek Grant
Carson McCraw
Kimani Archer (d)
Kennedy Edgerton
Thomas Lawson
Jeremy “Sumo” Swick
Ray Greenfield
Mike Williams
UP NEXT: Old White’s D2 side has another week off before travelling to North Carolina to face Southern Pines RFC on March 19th. The D3 side (3-1-1) takes a break before finishing up the regular season in April
STAY TUNED: Atlanta Old White has some events and good craic coming up we’re very excited about. Keep an eye out for future announcements.
