OWRFC 48 Vs NOLA 8
On February 1st, Old White’s D2 side travelled 6.5 hours west to take on fellow 2024 Gulf Coast Super-regional competitor, New Orleans RFC. While not officially a matrix match, it was played under full matrix rules and treated essentially as qualifier for Super-regional since the CGRU is depleted.
We scored early and often, with players added to our roster this season accounting for five of our seven tries on the day. Daemo Torres opened scoring in both halves with a tries in minutes 5 and 41. Matthew Fontana and Shea O’Hanlon added tries in minutes 15 and 25. Gio Duoyon dotted the final try of the first half in minute 36. Each try of the first half was successfully converted by Zach Miller. At the half, the score sat at AOW 28 - 3 NOLA.
After Daemo’s previously mentioned 41st minute try which Miller converted, Miller decided he wanted more than conversions and got a quite heroic try for himself in minute 71. Shea converted this time. The hosts managed to add an unconverted try to their scoring at minute 75 but Old White made sure to have the last word on the matter with an emphatic 80th minute try by Aristote Mulumba.
Final score: Atlanta Old White 48 - 8 New Orleans.
Defense was stifling. Attack was prolific.
Forward of the Match honors were awarded to Aristote Mulumba. Back of the Match went to Gonza Garcia.
